Just picked this up for 100 GBP from one of my local pubs i used to use.
Any tips on using it. Think it uses natural gas.

Hi UF,
Looks like a good find.
Apart from needing a good clean...
Not trying to teach anyone to suck eggs....If it's natural gas then, of course, you don't want to use it indoors unless you have a restaurant kitchen extraction system.
You could probably change the burners to LPG to use outdoors undercover.
When you do run it for the first time then run it at it's highest temperature for a while which will clean up the inner surface.
Good luck with the project.
Cheers
Mick
Thanks CBM, once i have stripped it down and given it a good clean can these be stored outside, undercover say in a small wooden type shed?
Haven't really had a good look at the burner yet but the person i got it off used it in the pub so just thought it runs on natural gas but if not would you recommend converting to LPG?
Sorry for the amount of questions never used a tandoor before.
Thanks

I suppose, like most things, if it's kept dry it should be ok.
I don't know how the clay might be if freezing temperatures got to it?
I only recommend changing to LPG purely so it can be moved to a position where the gases from the burner flame don't become a danger.
I know I wouldn't use one in the house.

Hello all right, got the burner out and cleaned the outside of my oven, now the question is how/what can i use to clean the inside of the oven, not the clay pot itself the bottom of the oven, it is caked on pretty good.
Any tips/help/ideas would be gratefully recieved.
Thanks.

You could try oven cleaner. Failing that caustic soda shifts most things, but you wouldn't want to contaminate the clay with it.
You're not hooking it up to mains gas indoors are you? The site has been going for years and we haven't killed anyone yet
Cheers,
Tim
No ferret not going to use indoors, going to build some king of decking and have the Tandoor on that with a wooden/plastic shed type thing then insulate the shed.
Where the oven is now is in my darts room, which also doubles up has my curry storing room. it's off my kitchen, got four big rooms downstairs.

Well that's a weight off my mind. Post photies when it's all up and running.
Cheers,
Tim
Will do.
Got a lot of things to do before i can even try it out.
